Where to stay

on your surf holiday

Where to stay

on the north coast

So you have decieded to go on an adventure surf holiday to the Dominican Republic? Most tour providers offer all-inclusive packages to the Dominican Republic. The majoirity of those hotels are in Punta Cana. This is not a good area for consistent surf spots.

It’s better to book a regular flight to Puerto Plata or Santiago and then find accommodation in Cabarete which is the most central town to all the surf spots. There are hotels in every price brackets, from cheap hotels in the $30 to 60 USD pp/pn range to fancy apartements and villas in the 650 – 1,000USD per night range.

What is best depends on what you are looking for.

Which town?
Our advice would be Cabarete, this way you are close to the surf spots as well as restaurants, surf shops and bars that cater for the active holiday maker.

Sosua is also close to the surfspots, but attracks a very different crowd (!!)

Local knowledge and a social crowd

Swell

If you are traveling solo , as a couple or family and want to meet like minded surfers, then Swell Surf camp is a good option. Swell provides transport to the surf spots, board rentals and local knowledge as well as super comfortable rooms.
